I’m Wade Bratcher, and I started Moving Matters in 2018
I grew up on the Rich Pond / Alvaton stretch of Warren County, the kind of place where the driveway is gravel, the back lot has a cross-fence for the neighbor’s cattle, and Sunday traffic on US-31W is mostly church-bound. After I came home from Fort Campbell — I served four years with the Army out of the 101st — I ran agricultural and freight logistics along the I-65 / US-31W corridor for the better part of a decade. I saw enough crooked moving estimates in those years to know how the game gets played on regular Bowling Green families.
So in 2018 I started Moving Matters on one rule that has not moved an inch since: lock the flat rate in writing before the truck rolls. No hour-creep, no surprise stair fees, no “oh by the way” charges at the destination. The price you sign at the kitchen table is the price you pay when we hand you the keys.
What we look like on the ground
- 14 movers, 18 total on the roster — every one W-2, background-checked, in a clean Moving Matters polo.
- Own trucks parked at our Scottsville Road yard, blanket-stocked and dolly-stocked every night.
- Same crew, both ends on local Bowling Green and Warren-County jobs. No handoff to strangers.
- Kentucky Motor Carrier moving certificate on file, plus US DOT and MC authority for the long-haul I-65 runs to Nashville and Louisville.
The Bowling Green we actually move
We load WKU students out of College Heights every May and back in every August. We move Corvette plant transfers across the GM shift change. We carry brick-ranch grandparents off gravel driveways in Rockfield, and we tarp the entry route when the red-clay mud gets bad in April. We have a soft spot for the December 2021 SoKY tornado-belt families — a lot of them are still rebuilding, and we still do the short cross-town haul to their new place at cost.
The team you’ll meet
- Brandy Goodrum runs the office. She handles your quote, your COI, and your bill. Call once and she’ll know who you are next time.
- Hollis Kemble dispatches. He builds the truck board every morning across Warren, Logan, Barren, Butler, and Allen counties.
- Tyler Whitlock is my lead crew chief — pianos, gun safes, gravel-driveway carries.
- Cody Reames runs our long-haul board — the I-65 corridor north and south.
- Marcus Dewhurst specializes in WKU campus moves and Corvette-plant PCS.
What you’ll spend with us
Local hourly rate is $119/hr for two movers and a truck, $159/hr for three movers and a truck — that’s the South-Central Kentucky rural rate, and it includes blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap, and the drive time.
